Meet Rachel Manning




Team Celebrating Life


Rachel is 17 years old, and a senior in high school. She was born premature at 30 weeks. Shortly after she was born she was diagnosed with CVID. Common Variable Immune Defieciency (CVID) is a disorder that impairs the immune system. People with CVID are highly susceptible to infection.


Her parents started on a journey to save her life. Every 14 days she gets a treatment called IVIG. This is an infusion that takes 4 hours. This medicine keep her living a life outside the hospital. CVID compromises her immune system. It keeps her immune system from fighting infections. Rachel has spent many days in the hospital, going through over twenty surgeries. .


When she was 8, Rachel started to run. She has completed many 5k races. She played basketball ball for her school. She is also a brown belt in Krav Maga. Rachel is also hearing impaired.


Rachel has overcome so much in her short life, but not once has anyone heard her complained. She always puts others before herself. She is loving and caring to everyone she meets.
